The Shirkers are anything but! They are an enthusiastic bunch of fund raisers and workers who carry out vital maintenance and restoration projects on the island. In recent years, they have enabled the purchase of crucial items such as: a mechanical load carrier to transport materials from the island beach: a flail mower to help maintain the island pathways: funds for materials in the restoration of the Victorian Barracks and much else besides.

The group is marshalled by Dave Wallace who writes the Shirkers’ Newsletter and, with his wife Pam, organises a host of social and fund raising events including Pub Nights at The Hunters’ Lodge Inn, Priddy in Somerset. If you're interested contact:
