The Kenneth Allsop Memorial Trust was formed to perpetuate the memory of a remarkable, pioneer journalist and conservationist who died in 1973. In 1976, by public subscription, the Trust was able to buy Steep Holm. It is a registered charity (No. 270059) which seeks to preserve and enhance the island's natural beauty and landscape, together with its antiquities, wildlife and scientific interest, for everyone to enjoy.
Membership of the Trust is open and new members can be actively involved in the care of Steep Holm or just quietly supportive! There is the benefit of a thrice yearly Newsletter and reduced boat fares for visits. An Annual General Meeting, open to all members, is held in Weston-super-Mare in late June/early July with a friendly social lunch, usually at one of the seaside hotels.
